Migrating from Termius to SecurSSH: Step-by-Step Guide
Before You Start
Migration from Termius to SecurSSH is straightforward because SecurSSH works with your existing SSH infrastructure. You're not replacing your SSH client - you're adding a management layer.
Step 1: Export from Termius (10 minutes)
Export your server list and SSH key inventory from Termius. Go to Settings > Export > Full Backup. This gives you a JSON file with all your connections.
Step 2: Create Your SecurSSH Account (2 minutes)
Sign up at SecurSSH.com. The free plan lets you test with up to 5 servers before committing.
Step 3: Import Servers (5 minutes)
Use the SecurSSH import tool to bring in your server list. Map your Termius groups to SecurSSH server groups.
Step 4: Set Up Access Policies (15 minutes)
This is where SecurSSH shines. Define roles (Admin, Developer, Viewer) and assign server access per role. This replaces Termius's flat sharing model.
Step 5: Invite Your Team (5 minutes)
Send invites. Team members install the SecurSSH agent (or continue using their preferred SSH client). Access is granted based on their role.
Step 6: Verify & Decommission (15 minutes)
Test connections for each role. Verify audit logs are capturing correctly. Once confirmed, cancel your Termius subscription.
Total Time: Under 1 Hour
Most teams complete the migration during a single sprint planning session.
